So I put together this video for Mountain Creek and LHM Wake School. Thanks to this partnership, I’ve added wakeboarding into the rotation. I have to say, days and experiences like this make me think I have the best job in the world. I still can’t say I enjoy summer, but I hate it a little less now.

If you’re following me on Twitter or Facebook, you probably already know I’m in search* of a new cell phone. Just a few hours ago, I had my mind (somewhat literally) blown by the Vuvuzela app (Yes, it exists, and thank God the World Cup is over.) Now, people can virtually try on Electric sunglasses thanks to the newest version of its iPhone application.

“What’s New in Version 3.0? The major new release in 3.0 is the Rock The Volt feature. Now you can try on our range of sunglasses, pick the frame that fits you best and share labeled images of yourself in Electric sunglasses with your friends and family. Using our custom built sizing system you can see which model looks best on you or recommend shades for your friends. Electric is the only eyewear company that offers a mobile experience of this caliber.”

If you’re an anti-impulse online shopper like me, then you might benefit from this app… even if it does look like your 6-year-old cousin drafted the sunglasses in Microsoft Paint. Overall, the concept is pretty sweet (and far more useful than a vuvuzela) but it’s not enough to push me over to iPhone nation. Let the search continue.

In lieu of my summer of firsts, I’ve committed myself to try downhill mountain biking, wakeboarding, and possibly even golf. Granted, I’ll need to stock up on some sweet polo shirts… but I digress.

So Hugh, Chrissy and I took to Diablo Freeride Park at Mountain Creek. Hugh’s got some experience in cross country riding, Chrissy has been on a few downhill trips, and me? Total novice. Let the madness ensue.

Bear encounters are fun. Especially when they can disappear, reappear, and climb faster than you can say, “Holy shit. The bear just climbed up that tree.”

I figured I’d try something new, hoping to find a new hobby for the summer months. Turns out, hiking is a bitch… but can also be rewarding should you find yourself atop something really high and beautiful.

My car needed some attention a few weeks ago – apparently, a sticky gas pedal isn’t ideal for incident-free driving.

Anyway, my dad is a union ironworker on the job at the Meadowlands which happens to be right down the road from the dealership. My brother and I went on a spontaneous covert mission to check out the demolition of Giants Stadium.

What I learned: harnesses are tricky, burly men have girly nicknames, and flip flops are not appropriate footwear in such environments.

2010 US Open of Mountain Biking

Mountain bikers from around the world were flooding into Diablo Freeride Park at Mountain Creek this weekend. I’ve actually never been downhill mountain biking before, so I spoke to some of the racers to get their take on the Open’s course. Can’t wait to give it a shot sometime soon.
