Seriously? A presidential Chia Pet. Does this make anyone else uncomfortable?

It’s not the first time Chia Pet personified one of its “budding” creations – they’ve produced a “Chia Head” (another product I find very weird). This time, they’ve sculpted the “face” of the Chia Pet to mildly resemble our President, Barack Obama.

Isn’t this rather offensive? I’m no hairdresser… or Chia Pet connoisseur for that matter, but wouldn’t it resemble an Afro? Mind you, there have been no Chia Pets designed after famous Caucasian politicians. (A Hilary Clinton model was designed, but not yet released.)

Oh, and you’re in for a treat if you visit Chia Pet’s official website. Expect to be greeted by a dapper young man introducing Joseph Enterprises, the maker of “fun and useful” products. (Useful? Um…) And it doesn’t stop there. You can learn all about the “Chia in Chief” and the different expressions available for purchase – Happy Obama and Determined Obama. Be sure to turn up your speakers in order to enjoy the musical selection of, “Hail to the Chief” while you shop.

“Can you grow one? Yes you can.” …but why the hell would you want to?
