Twin tip in powderI gave you guys my initial reactions to the GNU B-Street BTX a couple weeks back, but last weekend I got to ride in about 2 feet of powder for the first time and I figured I’d let you know how the board handled. Mind you, I’m not a powder hound and haven’t had much experience with it living on the east coast. The board is a 145cm and it’s made for park riding. However, it’s my only board so I didn’t have much of a choice. The deep powder days are few and far between so I couldn’t really justify buying a board solely for those conditions. For being a short board, I think floated through the powder rather well. The tip would be SLIGHTLY covered in snow, but for the most part, it stayed on top. When we had about a foot on the ground and I felt the board handled really well. I hardly had to lean back so I assumed that was the banana camber kicking in. Once the second foot of snow fell, I felt like it was a bit harder to float through things, especially if I was riding trees. I made the mistake of not setting my stance back, as I’m lazy and didn’t want to mess with the centered stance I had just dialed in. If I know we’re in for a significant snowfall again, I’ll definitely get the tool out and move my bindings back a bit. I think that really would have helped especially while turning/weaving fast through trees. Ok, that about sums it up. There are a few pics from the powder days over in my Flickr account. Check ‘em out. |
